Dave Matthews Band (DMB) is an American rock band that was formed in Charlottesville, Virginia. Dave Matthews band was started in 1991 when lead vocals/guitarist Dave Matthews, drummer Carter Beauford, bassist Stefan Lessard, keyboardist Peter Griesar, violinist Boyd Tinsley, and saxophonist LeRoi Moore wanted to record some songs. Dave Matthews Band's first public performance was at the Earth Day Festival in Charlottesville in April 1991. After many odd gigs throughout the city, Dave Matthews Band was signed to Bama Rags recording company and released their first album Remember Two Things. DMB has had tremendous success throughout the years with their albums Under The Table and Dreaming, Crash, Before These Crowded Streets, and so many more. Dave Matthews band has one one Grammy Award for the Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group for "So Much To Say" in 1997. The band has received three nominations from the American Music Awards and six nominations from the MTV Video Music Awards but has yet to win an award from either ceremony. Dave Matthews Band received two nominations in its debut year in 1996 from the Grammy Awards, but did not win either one. The next year, however, they received the Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group award for the song "So Much to Say" from their third album, Crash.
